# Hubsoft integration with Juniper

Hubsoft, an ERP for internet service providers (ISPs), integrates with Juniper to authenticate PPPoE subscribers on MX routers through Hubsoft RADIUS. With the service-dc license, each plan's speed is applied dynamically, without a profile configured on the router.

Juniper Networks manufactures routers and switches. With Hubsoft, MX routers authenticate PPPoE through RADIUS and apply plan speeds using dynamic profiles or static filters.

## About Juniper

Juniper Networks is a network equipment and software manufacturer founded in 1996\. Its portfolio covers AI-powered networking, cloud, and security, including the Mist platform. At internet service providers (ISPs), MX series routers such as the MX5, MX10, and MX80 serve as PPPoE concentrators.

## What the integration does

With the router registered as a connection device, Hubsoft:

* Authenticates PPPoE sessions through Hubsoft RADIUS, with accounting.
* Applies plan speeds to IPv4 and IPv6\. With the service-dc license, bandwidth control is dynamic through the Hubsoft-Rate-Limit profile. Without the license, Juniper uses bandwidth filters created for each plan.
* Lets you redirect subscriber traffic to the CGNAT device through the profile's upload filter.
* Displays the list of connected customers and a real-time bandwidth usage chart.

## What you need

* Juniper MX series router with an access IP.
* The service-dc license for dynamic bandwidth control. Without it, the integration works in static mode.
* Subscriber management enabled on Juniper, with the device restarted afterward.
* IPs configured on the loopback (lo0), in IPv4 and, if used, IPv6.
* An SSH user for Hubsoft and the same RADIUS secret on both sides.
* The router's POP registered under Network > Points of Presence.

## How to enable it

1. Run show system license on Juniper. If the service-dc line appears, the device has the license.
2. Under Network > Connection Devices, click "+" and enter the name, IP, Juniper as the manufacturer, model (MX5, MX10, MX80, etc.), and POP.
3. Enable RADIUS, select the server, and enter the secret and incoming port, matching the router settings.
4. Choose the NAS type: Juniper if the service-dc license is available, or Juniper-Static if it is not. Enter the SSH username, password, and port.
5. With the license, enable dynamic profile versioning and create the Hubsoft-Rate-Limit profile and the PPPoE-Base profile for the interfaces, as shown in the wiki model.
6. Without the license, create a bandwidth filter on Juniper for each plan speed sold, according to the service browsing configuration in Hubsoft.

The step-by-step instructions with screenshots are on the [Juniper page in the Hubsoft wiki](https://wiki.hubsoft.com.br/pt-br/modulos/rede/equipamento%5Fconexao/cadastrar-concentrador-juniper).

## Limitations

* In Juniper-Static mode, each plan requires a bandwidth filter on the router. A new plan in Hubsoft requires the corresponding filter on Juniper.
* After applying the service-dc license or enabling subscriber management, the router must be restarted.

## Frequently asked questions

### The subscriber cannot authenticate on Juniper. What is usually missing?

The most common errors listed in the wiki are: the service-dc license is missing in dynamic mode, or the router was not restarted after applying the license; subscriber management is not enabled; loopback IPs are missing; static bandwidth filters were not created; or the Hubsoft-Rate-Limit profile was not created.

### Can Juniper be used without the service-dc license?

Yes. Choose the Juniper-Static NAS type in Hubsoft and register bandwidth profiles on Juniper for all plans sold by the internet service provider (ISP).

### Can Juniper send subscribers to CGNAT?

Yes. The dynamic profile's upload filter can redirect customers to the device that applies NAT, as shown in the wiki example.
