Hubsoft integration with Chima

Hubsoft, an ERP for internet service providers (ISPs), integrates with Chima to authorize, provision, and unauthorize ONUs on its OLTs. Technicians can release a subscriber’s ONU from the Hubsoft interface without needing OLT credentials.

Chima provides ONUs, OLTs, and voice equipment for internet service providers (ISPs). With Hubsoft, the SGT8000A OLT authorizes and provisions subscriber ONUs from the customer record.

About Chima

Chima provides equipment for internet service providers (ISPs), offices, and businesses. Its product line includes GPON and EPON ONUs, IPTV set-top boxes, VoIP PBX systems, IP phones, and Ethernet switches.

What the integration does

The integration connects Hubsoft to the Chima OLT via Telnet. Once the OLT is registered, the team can use Hubsoft to:

  • View connected ONUs and those pending authorization on each PON port.
  • Authorize the ONU linked to the customer and service, using the selected CPE profile. Provisioning runs immediately afterward, with no further action.
  • Unauthorize and deprovision using the commands from the same profile.
  • Bulk authorization and provisioning, one PON at a time, for ONUs already linked to services by serial number.
  • Wi-Fi network name and password, including the 5 GHz network, provided during authorization when the CPE profile has Wi-Fi commands.
  • Custom commands after provisioning, such as adjusting Wi-Fi settings or activating VoIP.
  • Alert when the ONU signal exceeds the limit on ports with verification enabled.
  • Log of sent commands to check the OLT response when something fails.

Integrated model:

  • SGT8000A (Telnet, port 23)

What you need

  • A Chima OLT of the model above, with an access IP address.
  • The username, password, and access port for Hubsoft to connect to the OLT.
  • The OLT POP registered under Network > Points of Presence.
  • CPE profiles with authorization, provisioning, deprovisioning, and unauthorization commands under Settings > Network > CPE Profiles. The Hubsoft team provides reference profiles for Chima (bridge).

How to activate

  1. Under Network > Connection Equipment, click Add and enter the name, IP address, Chima as the manufacturer, the model, and the POP.
  2. Enter the username, password, and access port: Telnet, port 23.
  3. Under Actions > View, enable editing and register the PON ports on the Interfaces tab, individually or in bulk, with the chassis, slot, PON, starting VLAN, VLAN increment, default CPE profile, and the concentrator that authenticates customers.
  4. To test, open Actions > View Connected Customers and check the Layer 2 and Pending Layer 2 tabs.
  5. Authorize the first ONU from the menu next to it by entering the customer, service, and CPE profile.

The step-by-step instructions, including screenshots, are available in the Hubsoft wiki: OLT and port registration, ONU authorization and provisioning and integrated OLT list.

Limitations

  • Bulk authorization and provisioning work with one PON at a time. If the PON has ONUs in bridge and router mode, process one type at a time.
  • When registering ports in bulk, register a maximum of 4 slots at a time.
  • When changing PONs, unauthorize the ONUs from the old PON directly on the OLT. In Hubsoft, unauthorization also removes the link between the customer and the ONU.

Frequently asked questions

My Chima model is not on the list. What now?

Contact the Hubsoft Infrastructure Support team. They will assess the feasibility of integrating the model.

Does the technician need the OLT password?

No. The username and password are stored in the equipment record. Operators can view and authorize ONUs from the Hubsoft interface without the OLT credentials.

Can I authorize multiple ONUs at once?

Yes, one PON at a time, under Actions > View Connected Customers. The ONUs must be linked to customer services, with the serial number entered on the service’s Authentication tab. After bulk authorization, bulk provisioning applies the CPE profile and VLAN.
