Hubsoft integration with Nokia

Hubsoft, an ERP for internet service providers (ISPs), integrates with Nokia to authorize and provision ONUs on the 7360 FX OLT and authenticate subscribers on the concentrator. Authorization uses the TL1 protocol, and technicians do everything from the Hubsoft interface.

Nokia is a Finnish company focused on mobile, fixed, and cloud networks. With Hubsoft, the 7360 FX OLT authorizes ONUs via TL1 and queries ONUs via SSH based on the subscriber’s service.

About Nokia

Nokia is a Finnish technology company founded in 1865 that operates in mobile, fixed, and cloud networks. It provides telecommunications infrastructure for carriers and internet service providers (ISPs). In Hubsoft, Nokia appears as an OLT manufacturer, with the 7360 FX, and as a concentrator manufacturer.

What the integration does

On the 7360 FX OLT:

  • Query connected and pending ONUs via SSH, using the user account configured for the equipment.
  • Authorize and provision ONUs via TL1 through a management server configured in Hubsoft. The OLT itself serves as this server, with its own TL1 username, password, and port.
  • Deauthorize ONUs and check optical signal through the same channel.
  • Bulk ONU authorization and provisioning, one PON at a time.
  • Hubsoft reference CPE profiles for Nokia, in bridge and router modes, using TL1 and SSH versions.

On the concentrator:

  • Nokia is among the concentrators certified for Hubsoft, with PPPoE authentication via RADIUS, a list of connected customers, and a real-time bandwidth usage graph.

What you need

  • Nokia 7360 FX OLT with SSH access (port 22) for Hubsoft.
  • The OLT's TL1 access details: username, password, and port, different from those used for SSH.
  • The OLT's POP configured under Network > Points of Presence.
  • CPE profiles with TL1-standard commands under Configuration > Network > CPE Profiles.
  • For the concentrator, configure RADIUS and the SSH user as with other concentrators. Hubsoft's deployment team provides guidance for configuring the Nokia 7750-SR.

How to activate

  1. Under Network > Management Servers, click Add and configure the Nokia OLT itself with its IP address and TL1 access details.
  2. Under Network > Connection Equipment, add the OLT with its name, IP address, Nokia as the manufacturer, 7360FX as the model, POP, and SSH username, password, and port 22.
  3. In the same record, link the management server created in step 1.
  4. Configure the PON ports on the Interfaces tab with a VLAN, default CPE profile, and routing concentrator.
  5. Under Actions > View Connected Customers > Layer 2 Pending, authorize the first ONU with a customer, service, and CPE profile.

The step-by-step guide with screenshots is available in the Hubsoft wiki: Integrated OLTs, with the Nokia section, Management Servers and ONU authorization and provisioning.

Limitations

  • On the 7360 FX, ONU authorization uses another OLT port through TL1. Therefore, configuring the management server is required to use this OLT.
  • CPE profile commands must follow the TL1 standard. Hubsoft notifies you when the profile is incompatible.
  • Bulk authorization and provisioning process one PON at a time.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Nokia require a management server?

Because the 7360 FX authorizes ONUs through another port using TL1, with its own username and password. The equipment record has no fields for this additional information, so it is stored in the management server.

Does the technician need the OLT password?

No. Credentials are stored in Hubsoft records. Operators query and authorize ONUs from the system interface.

I have another Nokia OLT. Will it work?

The wiki lists the 7360 FX. For another model, contact Hubsoft's Infrastructure Support team, which will assess integration feasibility.
