About GeoGrid
GeoGrid is web-based software from GeoGridMaps, based in Tubarão (SC), for documenting ISPs’ fiber-optic networks, from the station to the customer, with georeferencing. It records poles, cables, splice boxes, terminals, splices, and customers; calculates power; analyzes outages; and includes feasibility and design modes. It has been available since 2010.
What the integration does
The integration uses the project already created in GeoGrid. Hubsoft retrieves the equipment and sends back to the platform only the data of the customer linked to each port.
- Element synchronization: Hubsoft brings in poles with equipment, splice boxes, service terminals, racks, stations, and splitters or optical distributors. The ISP chooses which types to sync.
- Daily and manual synchronization: synchronization runs once a day, overnight, and can be triggered at any time from the mapping project.
- Poles as boxes: in GeoGrid, equipment can be placed directly on a pole. Because Hubsoft stores equipment in boxes and cabinets, each synced pole gets a box in Hubsoft to hold this equipment.
- Service splitter: Hubsoft distinguishes service splitters from distribution splitters based on the designation made in GeoGrid.
- Linking the customer to the port: done in the optical box, under the Mapping tab of the customer’s service, during a service or account-holder migration, and in the work order for removal. When the customer is linked, Hubsoft sends the customer’s data to the platform. If another customer was assigned to the port, that customer is removed first.
- Customers already linked in GeoGrid: during synchronization, Hubsoft identifies the customer by CPF/CNPJ and by the service recorded in the GeoGrid notes. If it finds the customer, it links them to the port. Otherwise, it reserves the port with a note.
What you need
- A contract with GeoGrid and the API access token, requested from GeoGridMaps.
- The API address, which is usually the same as the GeoGrid panel address and always starts with https://.
- Service splitters marked as such in GeoGrid.
How to activate
- In Hubsoft, go to Settings > Integrations > Mapping and add GeoGrid.
- Enter the API address and token.
- Under Actions, link the integration to an existing mapping project or create a new project.
- Under Actions > Elements, choose which elements to sync.
- Wait for the overnight synchronization or sync the project manually.
The step-by-step guide with screenshots is on the GeoGrid page in the Hubsoft wiki.
Limitations
- The integration does not copy the customer database from one system to the other. It brings in the equipment to make the ports available.
- Each integration is linked to one mapping project.
- Hubsoft does not query GeoGrid’s API for feasibility. Feasibility through the platform is available only for Geosite and OZmap.
- By default, only service splitters are brought in. The other elements must be selected under Actions > Elements.
Frequently asked questions
Why do poles appear with an optical box in Hubsoft?
Because GeoGrid stores equipment directly on the pole, while Hubsoft stores equipment only in boxes and cabinets. The box is created to hold this equipment.
I changed the network in GeoGrid. When does Hubsoft update it?
During the daily overnight synchronization. To see the changes sooner, sync the project manually under Mapping.
Are customers already in GeoGrid added to Hubsoft?
Not as new records. Hubsoft only links to the port customers who already exist in Hubsoft, using their CPF/CNPJ and the service listed in the GeoGrid notes.
